Szn Kraft | Words on Art
Statement: Art is a way of life
for me; it makes a mesh of fibers surrounding my corporeal existence. My filling is created by steps I've taken
along side my friends and family. Translation: I do what I do because that's the way I am
wired. My core element is to do and say things that make good memories for tomorrow. I am an artist because that's what kind
of spirit that dropped into this body. God knows it's not the easy path to walk while living in America where we're supposed
to make money, so we can spend money. This slams up against the next level my mortal coil, live simply, keep
only what you use, and leave behind nothing but improvements and goodwill. I put my
art up here for myself as much as I do for you. Hopefully it inspires you and helps keep fine art alive and vibrant. Below is my Twitter list and below that is some old ramblings, trying to put into words why I paint.
Susan (SZN) Kraft
resides in a live/work space in Palo Alto, California, with a studio-salon in California, showing locally nationally, and
internationally. Let Them
Eat Cake The art series “Let
Them Eat Cake” is a highly anticipated series, exposing geopolitical indifferences toward women and girls using burkas
and cakes as metaphors. I
am expanding and adding several large canvases to this collection. I
think this will be a very important series. It already stirs up a lot of emotion in its early debut in March '08; it
was censored from the originally slotted a 2-person show in the West Chelsea Art Building, New York on March 13,
2008. It previewed in studio J32 at the Palo Alto Art Studios, CA on February 16, 2008 came and went off with a huge wow-factor.
The
Gestural Figurative series A series of gesture paintings, some detailed, some sketchy, some outlines.
All models were in constant motion.
The Chinese Art Exchange abstraction series Seasons The inspiration for
this series began in mid-winter. As time went on and winter faded into spring and summer, my feelings of seasonal change expressed
itself though paint on canvas. - 07/05
Dreams With this series I present an absolute feeling of space and determinism
on canvas, using all the tools I have as an artist: -composition -color theory -prospective -texture -glazing I become emotionally involved with each painting in the series, using grand long, consistent brush-strokes
on the small and large, building layers upon layers, pushing the prospective without meaning into an abstract formless sense
of being, keeping the sense of the non-existent, existential wholeness of the cosmic consciousness wrapped into a canvas stretched
on a simple wooden frame. It is the grand scale of Life represented by something I can carry from wall to wall, not unlike how I imagine
the gods move their creations about, when they tire of the current view. - 11/06
The Chakra series
Originally meant to
be an exploration of both the simple elements and the human journey from birth to death, the true meaning came to light towards
the final days of working the canvases. Seven canvases each representing the seven energy centers of the human body. -05/03

"We
measure our own success in terms of
personal comfort & security, the universe measures our success by how
much we have learned.
Just let go.
Let go of how you thought your life should be, and embrace the life that is
trying to
work its way into your consciousness." -
